What is mediumship? According to Rosalyn Bown and Chrissy Desjardins, it can be summed up in one simple concept: proof of survivorship. And the two of them will be conveying these various principles behind survivorship in a workshop titled "Intro to Mediumship" next month in Cherry Hill, NJ. It will be featured as part of the "Be a Festive Soul" event with Dustin Pari of TAPS. (Click here for more details.)
But before they host this promising event in December, let me take you back a few weeks prior, in which I extended the opportunity to do a test run with a few select participants one night at my house.
Now if the test run was any indication of how things will turn out for those attending the actual event, then let's just say, those people are in for quite a treat!
But just who are these women organizing such an event and what does it have to do with mediumship?
Chrissy and Rosalyn have an extensive background in paranormal research as they used to be lead investigators for one of the larger investigative groups in the Delaware Valley. The two of them have certainly come across their fair share of strange as they specialized in handling the truly nasty, negative entity cases. But on a lighter note, their training allowed them to hone their skills as mediums and develop their abilities, instead of just simply subscribing to the "either you're born with it or you aren't" misconception when it comes to psychic research.
According to Rosalyn, psychic ability is like a muscle that needs to be worked out if it is to be effective. In her view, everyone has the gift, but they just need to practice using it, in order for it to develop and become something truly useful.
Through a dedication to growing their own abilities, these two women have been able to impart that knowledge and insight to a larger audience through various speaking engagements and lectures around the country.
Starting off the test run at my house, they focused on the educational aspects of mediumship by explaining how exactly mediumship works.
Some of the different "clair senses" were discussed, along with how certain people might be stronger in one than another. (The word "clair" means "clear.")
Later on in the lecture, Chrissy touched on what's called "psychic amnesia." This is when it appears that the medium is just plain getting it wrong, when in actuality the individual who is being given the reading may not remember important details that are being delivered by the entity. This particular aspect can be rather frustrating and discouraging to any medium as they begin to second-guess themselves.
And yes, it could be that the medium is maybe interpreting the information wrong, as Rosalyn was also quick to point out. But the important part here is that the medium should not let this hinder them from continuing to deliver any and all information that they are being given.
If a medium is trying to make things fit or forcing things through, this can also lead to inaccuracy in readings. Rosalyn warns that this isn't about trying to make the recipient of the reading feel good. This is simply about letting the information flow naturally and disseminating it freely without censorship. If a medium has information that doesn't appear to fit, then it should be set aside and not get hung up on whether or not it was accurate at that particular moment. It could turn out that that piece of information might have in fact been intended for somebody else in the room!
And that was actually something that took place the night of the test run. After the instructional part had concluded, the group broke off into partners to practice giving each other readings.
As one of the male group participants attempted to read Rosalyn, he said he wasn't getting much, aside from the name "Kristy" being repeated in his head. It was so strong in fact, that he couldn't seem to focus past it. Once everyone switched partners, Chrissy suggested that he try reading her instead, so that maybe she could have the opportunity to help him work past his psychic block.
Once the man started with Chrissy, his mind suddenly become a free-flowing fountain of information about Chrissy's deceased grandfather. This man did not consider himself psychic in any way prior to the startling revelations. But suddenly, he was delivering an incredibly accurate reading to Chrissy that I'm sure she had not even come to expect!
It seems that the name "Kristy" that this man kept receiving might have been being misinterpreted earlier for CHRISSY, who the entity may have wanted to get attention from in the very beginning.
Another unexpected reading was delivered to my neighbor, who I've talked with about this subject many times before. But never have I seen him so bothered or disturbed by any of it, especially the rather unsettling topics we often get into.
However, after he was given his reading by someone he had never met prior, I saw him spooked in such a way that I had never witnessed before. Though I do not know the exact details of what had been conveyed to him, I do think his particular reading got him thinking about a lot of things afterwards.
Now although I did not participate in the experiments myself (as I was observing and recording so I could write this insightful recap for you), I did however, witness something peculiar that I cannot so easily explain.
Chrissy educated us on Tingsha Bells, which are commonly used by practitioners in order to gain a heightened state of awareness through the vibrational effects, similar to harmonic healing tones.
Tingsha Bells can also be used as an alternative to smudging techniques in order to clear a room of negative activity. After Chrissy gave a brief demonstration of the sound these bells make, I noticed what appeared to be a small "ripple of energy" after the fourth and final hit that appeared to open up next to the side of her head and quickly close back up again.
I made a note of this bizarre ripple or wave, in case any of the other group participants had also seen it. No one had, so I thought maybe it was just a visual representation of the tone resonating in the air for some reason. But where the opening formed was not in the same vicinity of where she was hitting the bells.
Could I have somehow tuned into the right frequency at just the right time? Perhaps. But I leave that up to your own interpretation.
Either way, I and the other group participants tuned into a great test run of an exciting mediumship workshop that you will certainly be amazed and intrigued by.
Hopefully you can witness something for yourself at the "Be a Festive Soul" event, held on December 6th, 2014 at the Cherry Hill, NJ Holiday Inn.
In addition to Rosalyn and Chrissy's mediumship workshop, the event also features gallery readings, talks and lectures by Dustin Pari, author & researcher Clay Smith, psychic medium Joy Andreasen, healer & life coach Eileen Anglin, and spiritual evidential medium Jamie Faith Spinelli.
The event is sponsored by Sticks and Stones Gifts.
